You press with your trowel on the side you need to clean off some mud, press with your wrist. Clean up both sides and try to make them straight, like the sides are even, but it don't really matter as when painted all that will disappear. What's really important is that it is not hump, so that it feels flat like the wall when we are finish. So you dont want all the mud push into the middle like a little mountain, your it will be humped.
